From the blurb, I expected this to be a book about bullying, so I was really surprised (in a good way) when it explored harder topics such as abuse and cutting. I feel like cutting is normally seen as "acting out" or what "troubled kids" do. I have a family member who cuts, so I really appreciated seeing how cutting can be used as a coping mechanism, and that good kids can also do it. Even if reading about high school drama isn't your thing, if you want to understand cutting better, this would be a great book for that.

Well written and compelling. There is a lot to think about in this one! Brie and Jake go through a check of a bunch of garbage but it is worth it.
I started reading this, while traveling, with no expectations. Though it became apparent this was written for a younger audience, the authentic emotions and convincing drama held my attention. Not a dull chapter whether for the romance reader, suspense fan, or drama-mystery aficionado. This might serve as a good read to better understand a friend with an emotional issue. The action is a bonus. Very well written and looking forward to reading another by Peyton Garver.
I really enjoyed this book! I loved the complexity of the characters, the real-life problems characters faced and the unexpected twists and turns in the book. I think that adolescents would really enjoy this book and relate to trying to balance your academics with having a social life and the emotional struggles of being a teenager. I really hope to read more from this author!
The author, Peyton Garver, wrote an accurate and gripping story of real issues that teenagers are facing in their worlds today. The characters were well developed and believable. My heart ached for Brie as I cheered for her during the struggles she faced in the story. I loved the banter between the characters and some of the hilarious high school scenes. I would definitely recommend this book to teens and older. The story held my attention and I'm hoping there will be future sequels about some of the other characters in the book! Well done!
This is a compelling YA novel and I really enjoyed reading it. The characters are real and their histories and relationships make you remember just how hard high school can be. Everyone has a story, and the stories behind Brie and behind Jake and some of their friends and family come together in an action-packed emotional climax in this novel. Trust is not easy for anyone, but when its compounded with emotional baggage carried deep inside, it can destroy a relationship before it even gets started. Fortunately, these kids begin to accept and understand their insecurities and their love story prevails. I loved too that this book was able to capture the lust, love, trust and emotional relationships between teenagers without explicit sex or language.
This author grabs you from the very beginning. The characters are so deep and real. The story starts to build from the very beginning. You take sides right away and start routing for that happily ever after ending.
I normally don't read these types of books but I took a chance on this one. Let me tell you this book has me hooked from the moment I started reading it. This book touches so many topics that people over look from time to time. This was a very great read. It also lets you know that people out there each of us go through hardships in different ways and that it is ok and that there is always someone out there that cares about you. You just have to remember that no matter how hard it is. Thank you for writing this book i read it in a day i could not out it down.
