In this book we again meet an old enemy, a jealous scheming blood donor, and a sexy Warrior fighting his attraction to a spunky half-breed. Ms. Gabelman continues to keep the reader involved in the lives of the other Warriors and their mates while weaving an exciting tale for the main characters in this fun, fast paced story. Lana & Sid’s romance is fraught with obstacles as they rush to find the man holding Lana’s sister ‘mentally’ captive while also tracking leads to locate the missing women. The characters in this novel are realistic and the plot is well developed with enough twists and surprises to keep the reader rapidly turning the pages racing to find out “what next”. And the “what next” is a conclusion that will totally surprise the reader

I enjoyed this book very much. I highly recommend it to all readers 18+ years old. I will definitely be reading more of this series as the books become available.

Very Brief Synopsis - Sid meets his female counterpart in this, the 4th book in the Protectors Series. When we first meet Lana, she is trying to escape a trap by the kidnappers referenced in book 3. Little does she know that "VC", her date, is actual a VC Warrior named Sid. Lana puts a quick end to the attempted kidnapping of herself and her partner. You see, Lana is a police detective. Very soon, Sid and Lana are working together to try to stop the kidnapping/trafficking ring. These two realize pretty quickly their relationship goes way beyond the professional.

What worked for me - I am very pleased to say a lot worked for me in Sid. Many of the issues I encountered while reading the first three books in the series were at least mitigated in this offering. The story was more cohesive, the level of inane detail was greatly lowered, and yay!, we actually got a small snippet of Sid's pre-vampire life. The dialogue was fast, furious and funny.

Lana was a gem, absolutely perfect for Sid! She's feisty, she has mad survival skills, she's loyal and she's funny. Sid's past man-whorish ways, which reached out to grab him in a most hilarious scene, don't bother her. Lana knows what she wants, and she wants Sid.

Sid is his usual awesome self, providing comic relief and the level-headedness we have come to expect from him. Until he meets Lana, he wasn't sure he even wanted a mate, but he changes his mind in a big hurry. His response to Lana trying to sneak out after their first ...um...encounter... cracked me up, as did Jared calling Sid out for breaking his own "Kitchen Rules"! Sid treated Lana like she was the most precious of treasures. His reaction to Lana being disrespected was swift and powerful.

Slade and Jill are still sidestepping around each other. Their book will be combustible.

Speaking of combustible, Ms. Gabelman upped the heat level considerably in Sid. I felt Sid and Lana's attraction to each other clear to my toes.

Duncan had a LOT more personality in his few scenes in this book than he did in the entirety of his own book.

What didn't work as well - The Angel wrap up. In order to avoid massive spoilers, all I will say is "What??" Did NOT see that coming.

There were still a few awkward passages, but significantly less than in the 3 previous books.

Lana's gift, and Sid not giving her vital information - Lana's gift seemed to change to whatever it needed to be. And I can't believe Sid would withhold information from Lana that might potentially harm her.

Bottom line - the 4th entry in this series is much more polished and well written than the 1st three. The flow of the story was good, our Warriors took action rather than waiting for the action to come to them and the pairing of Lana and Sid was delicious. Time and money well spent!
Finally, in this book, there were some details during the erotic parts that actually kept my attention. The books get better as you go on but I’m still missing all the background for the characters. Also, I feel like the author is focusing too much on the side character’s relationships now, that you miss all the good parts by the time you get to the book of the couple. Interested to see what happens to Slade and Jill.

Also, side note, what’s up with all these dorky modern names? I kind of like it, in an odd way. I mean, Steve for a vampire’s name? Kenny, Bobby, Jeff? Come on. I will give her credit though, it’s a fun little detail that separates the books from every other vampire romance. You’re used to seeing names like Lucan and Micah that it gives these books their own little space in your heart.
OMG!!!!! Ms Gabelman has done it again. I read this book in one day. Could not put it down. You have badass Vampires, a sexy cop, and really bad guys that will keep you laughing and on the edge of your seat.
Sid is a wisecracking Vampire and Lana is a cop who is a total match for him. She also hears the dead talk. They work together to find out who is kidnapping girls and selling them. I believe this is the best one so far.
VC Warrior Sid Sinclair is the focus of this story. Sid has always been the one warrior that has a joke about everything under the sun. He also has rules of the kitchen...his kitchen...absolutely no kissing or any other physical contact with those of the female persuasion in his kitchen. That all is about to change when the beautiful cop Lana Fitzpatrick walks into his life. Sid is about to break the #1 rule...and take his lovely new mate in his kitchen...and to hell with whoever doesn't like it.

Lana Fitzpatrick is a tough as nails cop down to her bones and there is no way this vamp is getting in her pants....think again Lana! She is putty in his hands once his lips meet her's in a passionate kiss that will melt your heart. Sid always use to kid all the other warriors when they fell to their knees for their mates...he is about to get a taste of his own medicine.

I love this series so much and hope it never ends!
